Today’s Trade Show Tip: Bring a Gang Box!

A gang box is a term used in the trade show industry in reference to a tool box or emergency kit that can be accessed communally by people within your work or trade group. The term gang can reference a group of tools used for a project.  (See Wikipedia) We like the term because it sounds tough and united, putting emphasis on its significance when packing up for your trade show.

So what should you pack in your gang box?   Here’s a list:

Gang Box 101 List:

  • Extra business cards
  • A variety of writing utensils including standard pens, black markers, and highlighters
  • Scissors
  • Duct tape and Single and Double Sided Tape
  • Calculators (for crunching those important number$)
  • Notepads and Sticky Notes
  • Glue Stick and Super Glue (because accidents happen)
  • White out dispenser (because accidents happen)
  • Breath mints (Stinky breath can be a deal breaker!)
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Kleenex Tissues
  • A small Swiffer duster (in case there is any dust or debris on your display)
  • Windex wipes (a genius invention for a quick smudge buster clean-up)
  • Tweezers (for crate splinters)
  • Small first aid kit (Advil/Tylenol is a must!)
  • Mini Sewing Kit
  • Small container of office supplies that include paper and binder clips, rubber bands, etc.
  • Small Hammer and Screwdrivers or Multi-purpose tool that includes the basics
  • Stain remover pen
  • Shoe insoles (because your feet WILL get sore)
  • Cell phone chargers
  • Batteries
  • Flashlight

For the Epic Gang Box or Boxes add:

  • Extra Connectors and Hardware for your Displays
  • Packing Tape

  • Exacto Knife and Blades
  • Plastic sheeting for set-up
  • A level

The bottom line is, like any planned event something will go wrong.  It is important to take any preventative measures to insure that the excitement surrounding your trade show exhibit is directed at your awesome booth, company, or product and not any malfunctions with your booth.
