OPERATION
Mobile stages shall be designed to open and close easily by one person.
All components that must move to accomplish set-up or folding for
storage, shall be connected by drive links, or shall be spring loaded to
operate simultaneously as each half of the stage deck is raised or
lowered. As each half of the stage decking is lowered down for use,
telescoping legs shall extend to lift the entire center carriage and its
casters from the floor slightly so that the stage remains firmly in
place.
SAFETY LOCK
An automatic safety lock shall be provided to independently lock each
half of the deck in the vertical, folded position thus preventing
accidental opening.
SAFETY
TESTING
All mobile stages shall be safety tested and listed by Underwriters
Laboratories. Stages shall be designed with at least a 20" wide wheel
base (measured from the centerline of the casters) to reduce the
possibility of accidental overturn. Guards shall be furnished to protect
fingers from being injured in areas where pinching could occur.
CONSTRUCTION COUPLING
Stages of various lengths, widths and heights shall be capable of
coupling together. Units of the same height shall be coupled by dropping
the notched edge of one frame over a 7/8" wide, .125" thick hook which
shall be welded to the mating frame.
DECKING
A solid, plywood core shall be surfaced with one of the following:
OPTION 1: 1/8" thick tempered hardboard - OPTION 2: polypropylene sheet
- OPTION 3: carpet. The decking shall measure at least " in thickness.
The perimeter of the decking shall be routed to allow the frame to fit
flush with the top surface and cover the edges of carpeting.
FRAME
A 16 gauge, formed steel channel, 1-13/16" high, shall be reinforced
with a 16 gauge steel angle which shall be spot welded to the inside of
the channel. The angle shall provide a continuous support to which the
decking shall be secured with screws placed approximately 8" on center.
The frames shall completely enclose the top, bottom and edges of the
deck's perimeter, preventing the decking from becoming loose or damaged.
All areas where frame members are joined together shall be reinforced
with steel plates attached with rivets. A center support consisting of
two, 16 gauge, 1-13/16" high steel channels shall run the length of each
deck.
CENTER
CARRIAGE
Both halves of the mobile stage decking shall be hinged to a center
carriage constructed of 1" diameter, 14 gauge steel tubing. Six
telescoping legs of 1.05" diameter, 14 gauge steel tubing shall retract
upon folding the stage for transportation and storage by means of coil
springs.
CASTERS
All mobile stages shall be furnished with two swivel and two rigid, 275
lb. capacity, non-locking casters with 4" diameter x 1" wide, hard
rubber wheels.
END LEG
ASSEMBLIES
Each leg assembly shall be constructed of all 1.05" diameter, 14 gauge,
steel tubing except the upper, horizontal member which shall be
constructed of 1" diameter, 16 gauge, steel tubing. Three vertical load
bearing members shall be joined at the top by a full width, horizontal
member which shall rotate within four, 16 gauge saddle clips. Legs shall
be capped at the bottom with steel reinforced, neoprene tips to
positively grip the floor.
METAL
FINISH
All metal parts shall
be thoroughly cleaned and phosphatized to enhance paint adhesion. Metal
parts are then finished with a thermofused epoxy powdercoating.
OPTIONAL
ACCESSORIES
GUARD RAILS
Guard rails shall be furnished to protect the back and sides of the
stage as well as both sides of any stairs to be furnished. Guard rails
shall be constructed of 1" diameter, 14 gauge, powdercoated, steel
tubing. Guard rails shall quickly attach to stages by clamping on to the
frame and bolting through the decking. Bolts and threaded inserts shall
be provided by the manufacturer.
STEPS
Steps shall be surfaced with slip resistant, gray polypropylene. Step
units shall clamp securely to any area of the stage perimeter. Units
shall have ______ levels. Each step shall be 36" wide x 12" deep and
shall have a rise of 8". {OPTIONAL: Hand rails shall be provided for
both sides of the step units.}
SKIRTING
Box pleat fabric skirting shall be provided where indicated and shall be
furnished with Velcro for fast installation.
WARRANTY
All stage components shall be free of defects in materials and
workmanship for a period of ten years. Any defects discovered and
reported in writing within the warranty period shall be corrected by the
manufacturer at no cost to the owner. |
